About Us

WHO WE ARE

The Suwannee River Breast Cancer Awareness Association, Inc. is a 501 C-3 non-profit organization formed locally in January of 2011. The idea was born in the minds of three fishermen while leisurely fishing along the Suwannee River. The men were discussing how cancer had directly affected their families; the financial burdens, the sacrifices that had to be made and how life-changing their
experiences had been to them and their loved ones. The men made a decision to find a unique way to give back to their community that would pay forward the outpouring of care and love their families had received throughout their struggles. And so, the Suwannee River
Breast Cancer Awareness Association, Inc. was formed.

WHAT WE DO

We pay bills for our qualified applicants. Upon arrival, applicants provide us with bills and we pay the provider directly. Some of the items we have paid for families include:

  1. mortgage payments;
  2. rent payments;
  3. electric bills;
  4. telephone bills;
  5. vehicle loan/insurance premiums;
  6. home insurance premiums

experiences had been to them and their loved ones. The men made a decision to find a unique way to give back to their community that would pay forward the outpouring of care and love their families had received throughout their struggles. And so, the Suwannee River
Breast Cancer Awareness Association, Inc. was formed.

WHAT WE DO NOT DO

We do NOT make payments directly to applicants. Nor do we pay for doctors, hospitals or other medical bills as there are resources available elsewhere for those types of services.

    where we do it

    We service the counties in our region that border
    the Suwannee River.

    What Drives Us

    Our Mission

    It is our goal to help families in our community who are battling cancer and are experiencing financial hardships associated with the treatment of this disease. The many expenses of battling cancer can burden families with high medical bills, prescriptions, travel costs and even loss of income because care-givers must miss work. Often times, families find themselves sacrificing the money meant to pay bills for absolute necessities in order to obtain and receive the treatment needed to live! Through our own experiences, we have found resources to help with medical expenses, but nothing to help families with their ‘everyday’ expenses that do NOT come to a screeching halt just because a family member has cancer.
